Election Cycle
This is a quote from http://www.stltoday.com on 1/26/06
Mark Powell, the former live-in boyfriend of Mayor Donna Morrow turned harsh critic, was swept off the April election ballot this week because of a trash bill.
During the certification process, officials determined that he owed $37.88 in trash collection fees before the Jan. 17 filing deadline.Under state statute, a candidate cannot be in arrears for unpaid city taxes or municipal user fees on the last day to file for the ballot.
Well it is ashame that the election won't happen as a normal election. I am curious what the residents in O'Fallon think after the new board has held the majority for 1 year. They have done some good things. But I think it is ashame what they let the Pyramid project in Winghaven turn into. It was suppose to be a true loft project designed as an Urban Project. Instead it sounds like we are going to get suburban homes with a cottage look. Winghaven needed a dense development that is Urban in character. But once again a municpality has ruined something that had the potential to make the Boardwalk concept actually work. Instead they have a project that is nothing but a suburb that doesn't quite work. Dave's on the Boardwalk needs density to succeed. People don't want to walk 100' lots for each house to get to the grocery store. The lofts would have allowed Winghaven to compete with New Town.
Here what was proposed. This was exciting http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2004/09/27/story5.html
People chose Winghaven for a Neighborhood feel with an Urban core. Well O'Fallon ruined the chance to make anything cool and fun. I guess the young hip 20 - something's will move to the city.
